What is idea!? idea! is back. Conecta's ideathon returns to Gijón for a second edition to bring together people from all over Asturias around three big questions about our future. One morning. 72 people. 12 teams. 3 challenges. 12 ideas. On Saturday 3 October, people of very different profiles, ages and backgrounds will work together to turn real concerns of the territory into proposals that can begin to take shape. You need no previous experience and no need to come with a prepared idea — just a desire to contribute, listen and build with others.
The 3 challenges: 🌱 CARE — How do we care for an Asturias that is ageing and for the land that feeds us? What happens when we think together about the future of those who produce our food and those who need care? We will talk about territory, food, generational handover, health, autonomy, prevention and unwanted loneliness.
♻️ INHERIT — What do we do with what Asturias has built, consumed and inherited? Our landscape holds more than a century of industry. The challenge is to decide what we preserve, what we transform and what we can set in motion again. Circular economy, energy, waste, heritage, biodiversity and new uses for spaces and resources that already exist.
🏠 STAY — Why does someone decide to stay in Asturias, or come back? Housing, employment, training, mobility, industry and quality of life are more connected than they seem. We will look for ideas so that building a life project in Asturias is a real option.
What will happen during the day? This year we are debuting a new methodology. Each team will receive a surprise box with things about Asturias' past and present. The diagnosis will already be on the table — your job will be to imagine the future. From there, it will be time to debate, cross points of view, talk with other teams and mentors, and turn all of that into a concrete proposal. At the end of the morning, the 12 teams will have three minutes to defend their idea before the jury. No PowerPoint. No need for a laptop or technology. We will work with paper, markers, conversation and lots of ideas.
Who can participate? idea! is open to anyone aged 16 and over. We want to mix profiles that normally don't coincide around the same table: business and industry professionals, researchers, students, people linked to associations, and citizens. You can register alone or in a group of up to 6 people. If you come alone, we will take care of forming diverse teams. You don't need specific knowledge about any of the challenges.
What do you get out of it? A morning for learning by doing, meeting people with very different perspectives from your own, and working on issues that directly affect the future of Asturias. And above all, the challenge of leaving the room with something concrete: an idea, who it can help, and what its first steps would be to start making it real. There will also be prizes and recognition for the outstanding proposals.
